Happy Fall everyone! Weather wise it’s my favorite time of year where it’s warm enough be outdoors and then at night you can feel that comfortable chill in the air.
Speaking of being outdoors, It’s also the time of year when we hold our very popular Annual Oyster Extravaganza! on October 19th, noon – 2 p.m. at Little Creek Oysters in Greenport. It’s a great social gathering for all those Oyster lovers. For those who don’t indulge, we will also have the most delicious pizza from Greenport’s favorite 1943 Pizza Bar! Tickets for this event are on sale at nfwfwf.org and all are welcomed to attend.
Before this event, there is of course our October First Friday Friends night on October 4th at East on Main in Mattituck. This is a new venue for us with great space for a fun time.
Also in October we will host our Second Annual Breast Cancer Breakfast at the Hellenic Restaurant in East Marion. We host this event to honor anyone whose life has been affected by Breast Cancer — no matter what stage you are currently in, have been in — or if you care for someone touched by Breast Cancer. Last year the event was a very moving experience through sharing our personal journeys. Each story so unique, each woman so resilient and amazing.
The breakfast will be on Saturday, October 26th at 10 am. Please RSVP by noon on October 25. All details can be found by clicking here.
At the October meeting of the NFWFWF board we will get together with representatives from the Long Island Sound Senior Care organization. They will speak with us about working together to provide our community with relevant services and resources for our members. Updates on this meeting will follow.
So, we are keeping busy and having fun at the same time. This is what I call balanced diet! If you have time and would like to get more involved, please consider joining our HelpHer team. Details can be found on our website at nfwfwf.org/services/volunteer.
Stay well and I hope to see you at one of our events this month.
